How we ranked this list
We weighted deposit collection at signing, progress and final invoicing, published card and ACH fees, payout speed, homeowner payment options, and whether invoices live in the same system as the estimate and job. Competitor facts and prices come from each vendor's public pricing and product pages, checked in September 2026 (JobNimbus: its June 2026 pages, the latest we could verify). Where a vendor does not publish a price we say Quote required rather than repeat third-party estimates. Revcore Pro is our own product, so we say plainly where another tool is the better fit. Revcore does not offer homeowner financing today (it is on the roadmap) or two-way QuickBooks sync.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best invoicing and payment software for contractors in 2026?
For contractors who sell and build larger jobs, Revcore Pro is our pick because the deposit is collected at signing and progress and final invoices come from the same estimate and job, and Margin Protection builds card processing into the estimate so you keep your full price. Jobber suits small service shops that want accounting sync, and Contractor Foreman fits builders who bill retainage.
How much do contractors pay in payment processing fees?
Published rates: Revcore Pro charges standard 2.9% + 30¢ card processing plus a 0.75% platform fee for cards (3.65% + 30¢ total), and for ACH, 0.8% (capped at $5) plus a 0.75% platform fee. Jobber charges 2.9% + 30¢ for online cards and 1% for ACH, and Housecall Pro cards from 2.59% and 1% for bank payments. The bigger difference is who pays: Revcore's Margin Protection, on by default, marks up each line item in the estimate to cover card processing, so you keep your full price and the homeowner never sees a separate fee line.
Should contractors collect a deposit at signing?
In most trades, yes. A deposit at signing confirms the homeowner is committed, covers early material costs, and cuts cancellations before the crew arrives. Revcore Pro takes the deposit by card or ACH right after the e-signature in the same visit, then bills progress and final invoices from the same signed estimate.
How fast do contractors get paid with invoicing software?
It depends on the processor. Revcore Pro standard payouts land in 1 to 2 business days, and eligible accounts can request an instant payout for a 1% fee. Jobber offers instant payouts for an extra 1% of the payment. Payout speed matters most for crews buying materials between the deposit and the final invoice, so check the standard payout timing and any fee for faster transfers before you choose.
Does Revcore Pro sync invoices with QuickBooks?
Not two ways. On the Scale plan, Revcore imports QuickBooks Online customers and invoices so you can move your history in. If two-way accounting sync is a must, Jobber (from Connect), Housecall Pro (from Essentials), and Service Fusion list QuickBooks integrations. Revcore keeps estimates, invoices, and payments on one job record instead.
