The accountant in the showroom
Douglas spent fifteen years as a CPA, including doing the books for his father-in-law's window company. When his father-in-law wanted to retire in 2021, the family asked Douglas to take over.
He knew the margins cold. What he did not know was how to sit at a kitchen table and sell a $30,000 window job.

Why he switched
He needed his reps to present the same way, and he wanted to learn from the best ones. He also wanted measurements and selections to reach the installers without a single copied number.
Now every rep presents from the same deck, walks homeowners through Good, Better, Best window packages, and gets the signature and deposit at the table. Measurements and photos go on the job for the install crew.
“I knew the numbers. I'd never sold a window in my life.”
What changed at work
Douglas learned to sell by watching his top rep's presentations. Now he trains new reps on the same deck.
Mismeasured windows, which used to cost the company a small fortune each year, are rare.

What changed at home
His father-in-law still stops by the showroom on Fridays to tell stories.
Douglas and his wife take the kids skiing at Winter Park most weekends from January to March.

“I learned to sell by watching our best rep's presentation. Now every new rep learns the same way.”
