Building estimates with trade templates and local pricing

Last updated June 2026

The estimator turns measurements and a few choices into a clean, line-itemed quote. Trade templates give you the right line items for the job, and local pricing keeps your numbers tuned to the market you actually work in.

Start from a trade template

Templates are prebuilt line-item sets for common jobs, so you are never starting from a blank page. Each one ships with labor, materials, and typical add-ons that you can keep or remove.

  1. 1Open a customer or job and click New estimate.
  2. 2Pick a trade template that matches the work, for example roof replacement, repair, or gutters.
  3. 3Enter the core measurement, such as squares or linear feet. Line quantities update from that number.
  4. 4Toggle optional line items on or off to match what you are actually selling.

Turn on local pricing

Local pricing adjusts material and labor rates by the job's zip code, so an estimate in a high-cost metro is not priced like a rural route. Set it once and it applies to every new estimate.

  1. 1Go to Settings, Estimating, Local pricing.
  2. 2Confirm your base zip and your default margin.
  3. 3Add region adjustments if you work across several markets, or use our suggested rates as a starting point.
Note

Local pricing changes the suggested rates, not your final number. You can always override any line before you send.

Review margin before you send

Every estimate shows a live margin readout as you edit. If a discount drops you below your floor, the margin chip turns red so you catch it before the customer does.

  • Adjust quantities and the totals and margin recalculate instantly.
  • Save the finished estimate as a custom template to reuse next time.
  • Send it as is, or roll it into a tiered proposal for a stronger close.
