Is Kickserv worth the price?

Kickserv is budget field service software for small service businesses such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical, restoration, and landscaping, covering leads, estimates, scheduling, invoicing, and payments. It sells three plans priced by team size: Start (5 users), Run (10 users), and Scale (20 users) at $60, $119, and $199/mo billed annually, or $75, $149, and $249/mo month to month. Kickserv sends estimates, invoices, and reminders by text, but says it does not offer back and forth SMS messaging.

What Kickserv does well

  • Low flat price with 5, 10, or 20 users included, from $60/mo billed annually
  • Two-way QuickBooks sync, including QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks for Mac
  • Customer Center included at no extra cost for approvals, payments, and messages
  • 30-day free trial and no contract
  • Long track record: the product launched in 2006 and was renamed Kickserv in 2011

Where it falls short

  • No two-way texting; SMS is for outbound notifications, estimates, and invoices
  • No tiered estimate options or interactive presentation described on public pages
  • Dispatch mapping and GPS check-ins are not on the Start plan
  • Card-not-present processing at 3.9% + $0.30
  • No listed plan for teams over 20 users

Who Kickserv is priced for

Kickserv is a good fit for

  • Small service crews that want a low flat price for up to 5, 10, or 20 users
  • Businesses that rely on two-way QuickBooks sync, including QuickBooks Desktop
  • Owners who want a Customer Center for estimates, invoices, and payments at no extra cost

It is a weaker fit for

  • Teams that need two-way texting with customers
  • Contractors who close larger jobs with tiered options or an in-home presentation
  • Crews that need dispatch mapping and GPS check-ins on the entry plan
