Ductwork that delivers the air you pay for

Leaky or undersized ducts are behind most hot upstairs bedrooms and cold back rooms. We find where the air is going, then repair, seal or redesign the ductwork so every room gets its share.

Older Charlotte homes and patchwork ductwork

Many 1920s to 1950s homes in Myers Park, Dilworth, Elizabeth and Eastover were built without central air. The ductwork was added later, often squeezed into tight crawl spaces and attics, then extended with each renovation. It is common to find crushed runs, disconnected boots and returns that are far too small.

Crawl spaces add their own challenges. Ducts under the house sit in damp air, so leaks pull in musty, humid air and insulation can sag or get damaged by pests. We repair what can be repaired and replace sections that are past saving.

Newer homes are not immune

Homes built in the last 20 years in Huntersville, Ballantyne and Fort Mill usually have flexible ducts in hot attics. Flex duct works well when it is installed straight and supported, but long sagging runs and tight bends choke airflow to the rooms at the end of the line.

Attics in Charlotte can reach 130 degrees in July. Every leak in an attic duct dumps cooled air into that heat. Sealing and properly supporting attic ducts is one of the most cost-effective comfort upgrades we do, and it often solves the hot bonus room problem.

How we find the problem

We measure airflow at each vent and static pressure across the system, then inspect the ducts in the attic or crawl space with photos you can see. For larger projects, we run a duct leakage test that shows how much air is escaping.

From there, you get options: sealing and repairs, adding a return to a closed-off room, resizing trunk lines, or full replacement. We explain what each will change in how your home feels, not just what it costs. Most sealing and repair jobs take a day or less, and we measure airflow again before we leave so you can see the difference room by room.

Ductwork

We live in a 1938 house in Dilworth and the back bedroom was always 8 degrees warmer. Andre crawled under the house and found two ducts completely disconnected. He sent me photos from the crawl space before and after. Room is finally even with the rest of the house.

Ductwork

Upstairs was always hot. Another company told us we needed a second system. Calloway tested airflow, found crushed flex duct in the attic and a missing return in the master. Fixed both for a fraction of what a new system would have cost.

AC repair

AC died on a Tuesday morning with the heat index at 104. I called at 9, Marcus was here by 1. Bad capacitor, fixed in 40 minutes, and he showed me photos of the old part. The price he quoted was exactly what I paid.

Response from the owner

Danielle, thank you. Marcus mentioned how hot it was upstairs when he arrived, and we are glad he got you cool before the afternoon peak.

Good questions.

How much does ductwork replacement cost in Charlotte?

Full duct replacement for a typical Charlotte home runs about $4,500 to $12,000 depending on size, number of systems and access. Sealing and targeted repairs cost much less, often $600 to $2,500. We give you a flat price for each option after inspecting the ducts.

Why is my upstairs so much hotter than downstairs?

Heat rises, and upstairs rooms sit under a hot attic. Leaky or undersized attic ducts, missing returns and poor attic insulation make it worse. Often the fix is sealing and rebalancing ducts or adding a return. For larger homes, a zoned or second system may be the right answer.

Should I get my ducts cleaned?

Duct cleaning helps after renovation dust, pest problems or visible mold, but it is not a routine need for most homes. Sealing leaks and using a good filter usually does more for dust than cleaning. We will tell you honestly whether cleaning would help your home.

Do you work in crawl spaces?

Yes. Much of our older-home work in Charlotte is in crawl spaces. We repair and insulate ducts under the house, fix sagging runs and address moisture that affects your air. If the crawl space needs encapsulation or drainage work, we will refer you to a trusted specialist.

Comfortable again, today.
