Large homes, multiple systems
Most of Ballantyne was built between the mid 1990s and the 2010s, so many original systems are now 15 to 25 years old. Homes in Ballantyne Country Club, Piper Glen and Blakeney often have three systems: one for the main floor, one for the upstairs and sometimes one for a finished bonus room or basement.
When one of those systems fails, the others work harder to cover for it. We often replace systems in stages, starting with the oldest or hardest-working unit, and we help homeowners plan the rest so they are never caught off guard in August.
Zoning, bonus rooms and comfort
Bonus rooms over garages are the most common comfort complaint we hear in Ballantyne. They sit over an unconditioned space, have more exterior walls, and are usually at the end of a long duct run. The fix is rarely a bigger system. It is usually better ductwork, a dedicated return or a properly set up zoning system.
Many Ballantyne homeowners also choose variable-speed heat pumps when it is time to replace. They are quiet, handle humidity well and pair nicely with existing gas furnaces as a dual-fuel system. Where a home already has a zoning system, we test the dampers and controls too, since a stuck damper is a common cause of one hot room.
